Rooted in Community: A Successful 2026 Reforestation Tree Sale
Each spring, our Reforestation Tree Sale reminds us just how strong and committed our community is—and this year was no exception.
Thanks to our incredible staff, dedicated volunteers, and supportive customers, the Berrien County Conservation District’s 2026 Tree Sale was a tremendous success. Together, we sold approximately 20,000 trees, all of which will soon take root across our region—restoring habitats, improving water quality, and enhancing the natural beauty of our landscape.
This event is more than just a sale. It’s our largest fundraiser of the year, directly supporting our conservation programs, educational outreach, and stewardship efforts throughout Berrien County. Simply put, your participation helps us continue the work we care deeply about.
🌱 What does 20,000 trees really mean?
That number represents a powerful, long-term impact:
A single mature tree can produce enough oxygen each year to support two people—meaning these trees could eventually provide oxygen for up to 40,000 people annually
Over their lifetimes, these trees could absorb millions of pounds of carbon dioxide, helping combat climate change
They will provide critical habitat for birds, pollinators, and wildlife
Tree roots will help reduce soil erosion and improve water quality in our local waterways
Strategically planted trees can even lower energy costs by providing shade and windbreaks
All of that starts with a small seedling—and a community willing to plant it.
🌳 A Sale That Supports More Than Trees
Our annual spring sale continues to be a vital resource for Berrien County residents looking to invest in conservation, wildlife habitat, and the beauty of their own properties. From fruit trees and evergreens to shrubs and native species, we aim to provide options for every landowner and experience level.
We also offer the tools and resources needed for success—planting supplies, rain barrels, composters, and educational materials—because planting a tree is just the beginning of the journey.
