Ox Creek Watershed Project
Ox Creek's water quality is threatened by sediment from agricultural activities and stormwater runoff, particularly from the Orchards Mall area's extensive pavement. To address these issues, the Berrien County Conservation District plays a crucial role in educating farmers about best management practices to minimize soil runoff and protect water quality. We also assist landowners in securing USDA funding for conservation practices that promote soil and water quality. Additionally, eligible landowners can participate in the Wetland Reserve Easement Program to preserve and restore wetlands, further enhancing water quality. By working together, we can reduce pollution and improve the overall health of Ox Creek.
