Ox Creek Watershed Project
Ox Creek Watershed Project
While Ox Creek faces several threats to its water quality, the primary issues are sediment from agricultural activities and stormwater runoff from the extensive pavement, particularly near the Orchards Mall area. The Berrien County Conservation District's involvement in the project focuses on educating farmers about best management practices to minimize or prevent soil runoff from their fields, thereby protecting water quality. Additionally, we provide support to landowners seeking USDA funding for conservation practices related to soil and water quality. The Wetland Reserve Easement Program is also available for eligible land.
