Two Director Position's Open
Berrien County Conservation District is seeking candidates to run for a four-year Director position for the District Board. Two positions are open on the five-member board. A candidate must be a resident of Berrien County.
Interested candidates should call 269-471-9111 ext. 3 or email the manager at Lisa.Kuntz@macd.org to learn more. Deadline for submission of election petitions including five nominating signatures is December 14th, 2024.
The Conservation District has historically focused on soil and water conservation and works closely with farmers and others to protect our natural resources. We are looking for individuals that care about the natural resources of Berrien County and can contribute to the conservation mission.
A director shall represent the district in a positive and supportive manner, secure funding for district programs, meet with legislators on a local, state, and federal level, attend trainings, be informed on natural resource issues, participate in district events and programs, and attend monthly board meetings to discuss issues and vote on district policies. This is considered a non-paying, volunteer position, however, a monthly stipend to attend the board meetings is provided.

Local Working Group
Make your voice heard in collaborative efforts to address local natural resource needs by attending the Local Work Group (LWG) meeting. This LWG is hosted by the Berrien and Cass County Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) in partnership with the Berrien and Cass County Conservation Districts.
LWG meetings are annual discussions with farmers, agricultural professionals, conservation leaders, and the public. This meeting will ask about natural resource issues and needs in Berrien and Cass Counties. The concerns that are prioritized at the meeting will help inform NRCS’s strategic response to those issues.
