Michigan Groundwater Stewardship Program

This program is part of a coordinated effort to promote and assist in the adoption of groundwater protecting farm management practices.  Funding is available for technical assistance through program participation.  The Groundwater Technician serves Berrien County and is guided by a locally formed Stewardship Team which meets quarterly.  The Stewardship Team provides insight to local agricultural concerns and establishes guidelines.

The program encourages individuals to take voluntary, proactive steps to protect Michigan’s water quality, and therefore, the quality of drinking water.  Purchases of nitrogen fertilizers and pesticides support the program.  For more information about Berrien County Conservation District’s Groundwater Program, please contact Suzanne at the District office at 269-471-9111 x121.
