Conservation Districts are local units of state government, established to carry out programs for conservation. The guiding philosophy of all Conservation Districts is that decisions on conservation issues should be made at the local level, by local people, utilizing available technical assistance. The District is directed by a five member board of directors. Each director is publicly elected to serve a three or four year term. Elections are held at the Conservation District annual meetings.
